Langkawi, Malaysia Design, engineering, fabrication and installation of a safe and eco-friendly observatory platforms and canopy walk bridges. This included an initial geographic site assessment to select a tree to build the largest observatory platform around - one that would provide the best aerial views of both the surrounding mangrove forest and the Andaman Sea, as well as be able to sustain the weight and long-term use of the build. It also included design and installation of supporting bridges, staircases and infrastructure. Every component was customized and uniquely designed for the Datai’s needs. This project was part of an extensive renovation that the Datai was undertaking to redesign their entire resort. We worked closely with the Datai team to develop a look and feel that was consistent with the transformation of their Nature Center, which was simultaneously being constructed in order to host guests and introduce them to the natural beauty of Langkawi’s rainforest and wildlife. Now a staple of the Datai’s nature-based marketing, the new Canopy Walk has been featured in over 20 acclaimed publications and received hundreds of mentions in Trip Advisor reviews.
